Europa! Europa Film Festival is back for its second run in Australia, this time showcasing 29 films from 24 different countries across Europe. Running from February 16 to March 7 in Sydney and Melbourne, the festival transports audiences through a journey of discovery and inspiration as it unveils the best of what European cinema has to offer.
“Europa! Europa is a celebration of the diversity and richness of European cinema,” said Artistic Director Thomas Caldwell. “Whether you prefer relationship dramas, police thrillers, feel-good sports films, period biopics, disaster films, or comedies, we have a film for you. Our program offers a wide range of genres and styles, catering to a diversity of tastes.”
The festival is also debuting the 4k remastering of Krzysztof Kieślowski’s Three Colours Trilogy, if cinema goers are more on the hunt for European cinema nostalgia. “These films perfectly embody the spirit of European cinema and exemplify our guiding programming principles: showcasing films that are multinational, arthouse alternatives to mainstream Hollywood cinema, and bold in their storytelling,” Caldwell added.
The festival will open with French film The Blaze, a drama/thriller that follows a man and his elderly father as they escape a wildfire in the South of France - and wrap up with the Judi Dench and Jennifer Saunders drama Allelujah, which explores the challenges of healthcare in a geriatric hospital facing closure. With almost thirty films on offer, the festival has something for everyone in between.
Milk Bar has two double passes up to the festival for grabs. Email ross@milkbarmag.com with the subject line ‘Europa! Europa ticket giveaway’ and include your name and postal address.
