Emerging as a big player in the Moonee Ponds bar scene, Penny Young is anything but ‘penny dreadful’. Scoring top marks in vibe, beer and wine offerings, and tasty grazing options, it is the perfect spot for a mid-week rendezvous or a weekend bender. Milk Bar Mag attended the launch of Penny Young’s bar on Tuesday, 27 February, and is here to give you a run-down of what you can expect.

Extending the premises to incorporate a bar with an indoor and outdoor setting is pure genius. The exposed brick wall at the back of the bar, the gold light fittings and luscious greenery work in unison to create an industrial yet relaxed ambience. Natural light spills in, illuminating the bar which features 18 craft beers on tap and a wood-fire oven satisfy all your pizza-craving needs.

Originally a mere bottle shop, Penny Young has paid homage to her heritage, impressing beer enthusiasts, stocking over 350 varieties of beer, and wine connoisseurs with a range of wines with rare or unusual grape blends.

There are so many reasons to check out the fantastic new beer hall in Moonee Ponds, so head on down and see what all the fuss is about — you won’t be disappointed!
