Square Markets At Federation Square

One thing that doesn’t change with Melbournians as the seasons move forward is their desire to hunt down and hone in on trends that unite us as a city. Whether it’s that coffee place down a city laneway that does the best cold drip, a boutique stocking one of a kind, artistic jewellery pieces or that brunch nook that does eggs like nowhere else, we love something that we can call our own and show our friends when they come to town. Now, there’s a chance to celebrate all of those wonderful little businesses that do so much for our community, at the Square Market in Federation Square.

Global technology company Square will be hosting the best of Melbourne’s small businesses in The Atrium of Federation Square. From 9.00am – 4.00pm of Wednesday March 9th to Friday March 11th, city goers will be invited to visit a number of local retailers alongside emerging artists, homeware designers, illustrators, crafters and buskers in a diverse, cross promotional event.

Featuring some of Melbourne’s small business heroes, the event is designed to highlight the unique services that are responsible for the resounding collaborative identity in our fair city. The space will be constantly changing and evolving, with different names being invited back on different days. The customer experience will be front and centre, the bustling crowd will be encouraged to promote their favourites and engage with the faces of these wonderful community ambassadors.

Stop in for something sweet with Adriano Zumbo or Butterbing Cookies, complemented by a coffee from Market Lane or Shortstop. Take home some baked goods for the weekend with 5 & Dime Bagels, Miss Molly’s Cakes and Cobb Lane Bakery, then pick up something to spruce the home from Plant by Packwood. You can get your toes ready for winter by stocking up Tightology, and find quirky gifts from 2K Labware or Shonah Jewellery Design. The opportunities are absolutely endless.

Entry is free, but be sure to bring a credit card or two to stock up on your favourites.

Somewhere Else video sings of summer

It almost sounds like the premise of a reality TV show: pile a bunch of artists in a bus for seven days, send them across Mexico and see what happens.
