A Taste Of Oktoberfest At Munich Brauhaus

Munich Brauhaus, Melbourne’s own Oktoberfest beer house, has just launched its own range of beer.

Return flights to Munich, the home of Oktoberfest, will set you back at least $1,000. Thankfully, you don’t need to spend so much to enjoy the Oktoberfest experience.

Munich Brauhaus, situated on South Warf in Melbourne, is a traditional Bavarian beirhaus (spelt “beer house” in English), where guests can dine and party like Oktoberfest never ended. The venue has recently revamped its menu, and launched its own range of haus-brewed (house-brewed) beers to add to their extensive collection of imported German beers.

The range, named the Crafty Bavarian, includes Munich Lager, Butcher’s Bride Pale Ale, a wheat and barley blend called Hop Dock and the low carb Blonde Moment. They’re all brewed in Australia and come from authentic Bavarian recipes and 500 years of Bavarian brewing traditions.

The new menu has been developed to complement the taste of the Crafty Bavarian beers. The food combines authentic Bavarian flavours with fresh Australian produce, to create a variety of burgers and hot dogs. The best part, however, is that diners can design their own food themselves. They’re invited to build their own salad, choose the protein, select a cheese, and add whatever fruit, nut or seed they desire.

The waterfront venue seats 900 people and has just one rule: what happens in Munich stays in Munich. So get out the bows, checkered shirts and frilly dresses, and head down to South Wharf where the beers are aplenty.

It almost sounds like the premise of a reality TV show: pile a bunch of artists in a bus for seven days, send them across Mexico and see what happens.
