‘Put some snags on the barbie.’
This iconic phrase conjures up the senses of summer: the sound of a sizzling barbecue; a happy view of chattering family and friends; the smell of the outdoors, the feel of a cold drink in your hand; and the incomparable taste of barbequed sausages wrapped in a slice of bread, smeared with tomato sauce.
The Prahran Market is celebrating our love for all things barbecue with its annual Sausage Fest on Friday, 22 January from 12pm, just in time for the Australia Day long weekend. All you need to do is vote for your favourite snag – it’s that simple!
Featuring the best and fairest of Prahran Market’s poulterers and butchers, you will be treated with an impressive and carefully selected array of fine sausages all vying for top dog status. All entries are entered anonymously upping the stakes for the public in what will be a mouth-watering race to the end.
The man behind the tongs is Bob Hart – an institution in the barbecuing world and author of Heat and Smoke – a man who will ensure your snag is cooked to perfection while Alice in Frames will handle all things entertainment.
Last year’s delicious entries ranged from pork and fennel sausages to a more bold duck and orange snag – what will this year’s competition feature? Gary’s Quality Meats – the inaugural winner – will throw their hat back in the ring in hopes of making a back-to-back victory.
If you are a diehard fan of the Bunning’s Saturday sausage sizzle, make sure you head down to the Prahran Market Sausage Fest. It will be a treat!
