Herring Island Summer Arts Festival
Did you know there’s a sculpture garden on an island on the Yarra only accessible by ferry? Get to know the Herring Island this Oz Day with activities including artist’s demonstrations, self-guided walks and ample opportunity to enjoy the indigenous flora and fauna over a picnic. And it’s all FREE!

Eat Out, For Flood’s Sake
In a collaborative effort to raise funds for the Queensland flood victim’s, a group of local restaurants have banded together under Victorian Restaurants Unite. On Australia Day these socially-conscious kitchens will donate up to 100% of their takings to the Queensland flood victims.

This Australia day - January 26, there will be an all day show at the Tote in Collingwood to raise funds for The Refugee Council of Australia. Which will go towards helping with legal advice for refugees, providing settlement support for refugees and also raising general awareness.
The bands playing on the day include The Nation Blue. Arrows. Coerce. The Gun Runners. Hawaiian Islands. Headaches (qld). Luca Brasi (tas). Jerk Store (cbr). Anchors.

Australia Day Treasure Hunt
This Australia Day bring together family and friends to make a team and take part in the Fitzroy Gardens – Australia Day Treasure Hunt!
Fun for young and old, your team will be given clues which will take you to a number of locations throughout the gardens, and those completing the treasure hunt with all the correct answers go into the draw to win one of many prizes on offer.
The cost of entry is $5 per adult and $3 per child, this includes free entry to Cooks’ Cottage.
Registration opens at 9:30am.
Last treasure hunt at 3:30pm.
Donations will be taken on the day for the Queensland Flood Relief.
Note: you can undertake the treasure hunt at any time throughout the day, however should allow 1 hour to complete it.

Australia Day Woodchop
Are you pining for something different? Tired of rooting for the same old sports teams? Why not branch out from your usual activities and check out the uniquely Australian Sport of wood chopping. This Australia Day The Central Victorian Axemen’s Association have lumbered long and hard to bring you a showcase of some of Victoria’s finest axemen. You might say these guys are a cut above the rest. In a modern addition to this the Australia Day Woodchop will also host a ‘hot saw’ race where some of Victoria’s fastest modified chainsawists will run rings around the competition.
